Ben Mifsud Joslin is a bassist, vocalist, and composer from Malta. Keenly interested in making music that is both unconventional and accessible, Ben creates music as a solo artist and with Eyes to Argus and DALAM.
As a solo artist
If ambient with a pop sensibility even exists, you might find that Ben Mifsud Joslin’s music falls somewhere within that description. Ben writes instrumental tracks with a bass guitar, effects pedals, drum machines, and loopers, where the compositions evolve through interwoven melodies.
Plunge (A Live EP) – Ben’s debut solo release – is out on the 29th of August on all streaming platforms.
With Eyes to Argus
Eyes to Argus’s sound is ever-changing and hard to pin down, though it’s somewhere on the spectrum of indie, shoegaze, post-rock, and art rock. With Eyes to Argus, Ben has recorded three full-length albums, with the most recent two, Reroot (2024) and in habit (2021) released on vinyl through the Indianapolis-based record label Post. Recordings. Ben has performed internationally with Eyes to Argus, most notably at the 2024 edition of Post. Festival, sharing a bill with giants of the genre such as This Will Destroy You, And So I Watch You From Afar, and Caspian. Eyes to Argus have also played at major local festivals and shared the stage with notable acts such as Yndi Halda and Mokadelic.
With DALAM
DALAM are a frantic and brash noise-rock/hardcore band. Unapologetically sardonic, DALAM’s songs take real local scenarios and reimagine them in their most extreme and absurd conclusions. Ben has recorded one EP with DALAM so far – HEADLINES (2023), which came out via Kewn Records.
As a music journalist
In 2024, Ben launched a music blog – Niche Music That Pops – as a way to be less dependent on social media platforms and their algorithms. Ben uses this blog to promote his own work, but also to put other musicians, artists, and creators in the spotlight and give them the chance to express themselves in a more long-form way.
